An absolutely perfect day weather-wise, so I took the bike down to the bike path after work to enjoy what would becaome a perfect evening. Did 18 miles, and had an even better average speed than Sunday, which is a little weird, because I didn't feel as strong today, and my right knee was giving my some grief (the usual grief, nothing to worry about).

My asthma has been worse lately, especially noticeable on the bike. Back in early May I was able to ride without any noticeable discomfort, but lately I've been having hack attacks while riding. I can control them somewhat with menthol, but they still occur. Won't keep me from riding, but really aggravating just the same. So tired of it.

ouch

Marta, my MIL, has got rheumatoid arthritis and the bottom half of her lungs are full of nodules. I want to strange the doctors on this one; they misdiagnosed for two years.

Good for you! 18 miles is great, right?

18 miles is good for me, especially on a work night. It translates to about 85 minutes of riding. OTOH, most of the folks I see wearing bike togs and riding road bikes are probably doing forty or fifty miles a ride. It's all relative.

Long-acting bronchodilator, DX, it'll change your life. Fomeretol or salmeretol.

Thanks, Elena, but unfortunately it hasn't changed my life at all. I'm already on the maximum dosage of Advair, which contains salmeterol. It doesn't seem to anything beyond what plain old Flovent did. I had mentioned this to my doctor, which is one of the reasons why I had the pulmonary function test done. My doctor wanted to do it without, then with a bronchiodilator to see if it was effective, but I screwed everything up by passing the test without the bronchiodilator in the first place.

The only thing that actually seems to help is menthol. I have half a mind to dump the advair, because I'm worse this year on the advair than I was last year without it (or Flovent), but then I worry that it really is helping and I'd really get bad.

That just sucks. Really. Because it should be helping a lot.
