Oh, man! I wish I had seen this when it first aired, but I guess that's why they invented youtube. Mary Carillo, filling time during the middle of the night on NBC's Olympics 2004 broadcast, discusses the difference between the backyard badminton and that played at the Olympics.

Okay, that was deeply weird, yet hilarious.

My college had a nationally-ranking badminton team while I was there. No rollerblades or hockey sticks were involved.

They were probably using the expensive racquets. OTOH, her description is very close to my memories of backyard badminton.

I've listened to Carillo as an analyst at various sports events over the years, and while I always thought she was a pretty good broadcaster, I don't recall ever thinking "Wow, she's funny," before.
