There is a bookcase standing up in my living room, and it's a beautiful thing. The beadboard I used for the back panel looks great, better even than I thought. It took longer than I expected to put together, but it's standing. I'm beat, because I spent the whole day going up and down stairs, carrying stuff up to the attic, running laundry down to the basement, bringing bookcase parts and tools up from the basement. Didn't take any pictures today, but I will for the next one, which I'm going to work on tomorrow night. I don't think I'll be able to get all four of them done before I leave for Orlando on Saturday, but maybe three.

Once I get some new pictures, I going to clean up the Casa Machina website. The newest version of Irfanview does a great job of creating pages of thumbnails and slide shows. Give me something to do while I'm ignoring my roomie down in Orlando.

I didn't realize you had an LJ. Aha, you didn't until now. <Hustles off to add to list of friends>

To answer your comments:
1) Orlando is the site of this year's Pittsburgh Conference of Analytical Chemistry, which include a trade show that my company exhibits at every year. The last few years it was in New Orleans, the next few will be in Orlando. (It's called Pittsburgh because it's run by the Pittsburgh Society of Analytical Chemistry and Applied Spectroscopy.) So I get to pull some booth duty, go to a boring class, and otherwise not get to see many of the sights. Last time we were in Orlando, we got to go on little junkets to over to Disney World. The conference actually rented the Magic Kingdom for an evening. That was cool. One of our vendors threw a party at the American Pavillion in Epcot another night. This year they don't seem to be spending quite as freely.

2) I'm very pleased with it.

3) Of course I will.

4) Yesterday was a better day.

Doing the dance of DX being the bestest.

I second the people who are saying rip up the carpet. There are all those new wood flooring options. I don't know about the price, but they've don it on Trading Spaces, so it can't be too expensive. Another option would be low pile throw rugs. They are much easier to clean an not nearly the allergen nightmare that carpeting and padding are.

I was going to pull the carpet up sooner or later anyway. The reason I was leaning toward later is because it's a PITA. Not so much pulling up the old carpet, but if my back room was any indication, the padding is attached to the subfloor with thousands of staples that have to be pulled one by one. I have a beautiful Persian rug I inherited from my grandfather that will go over whatever I lay down.
