Well, it took awhile, but I finally got sucked into Youtube. Last Saturday night it suddenly occurred to me that I might find some Kinks and other favorites videos there, and the next thing I knew it was two in the morning. Sure, the quality is abysmal on a lot of them, but there's still some of decent stuff. As long as the sound quality is good, I'm fine.

Anyway, it provides some grist to do some "Lost in the Tubes" posts about various songs.

First up is Ian Hunter's "Once Bitten Twice Shy"

I've never understood why Hunter wasn't more popular in the US. He wrote some terrific songs, several of which became big hits when covered by other bands, but he only had marginal success on his own after Mott the Hoople fell apart. "Once Bitten" was probably his biggest solo hit.

And one good Kinks video, this one of Ray doing "Waterloo Sunset" solo and acoustic, accompanied by Gordon Edwards on piano, who was the Kinks keyboardist for about five minutes or so.

Still no rain; still sauna-like outside. On the good side, I managed to sleep in until 7:30 this morning. I guess being ridiculously tired has some advantages.

Wrong keyboard player for the Kinks, but I'm a tad prejudiced along those lines.

And yeah, you can find some AMAZING stuff on youtube. I found like Quicksilver in an outdoor gig from about 1968.
