No sooner had I posted the links to two amazing catches by Jim Edmonds on Thursday, than he was involved in yet another spectacular catch that very night in Game 7 of the NLCS. The catch by Endy Chavez of the Mets is one of the best ever, a perfectly timed leap in which he just manages to grab the ball by his fingertips as it leaves the park, and brings it back looking like a sno-cone at the top of his glove. Then he makes a good throw to double up the runner at first base. That runner was... Jim Edmonds. (And that's the rest of the story... </Paul Harvey>)

Heeee. Before the game I had been showing my kids the links you had posted. Then I have to admit I was not paying full attention to the game when "the play" happened. It was during the replay, as we were fully appreciating Chavez's efforts that we realized Edmonds was the one doubled off and all three of us shared a look as we made the mental connection.

I love sharing baseball with my kids!
