Okay, maybe having live game audio on my computer isn't such a hot idea after all. I say this because I'm listening to the Dodgers play the Sox, and Charlie Steiner and Rick Monday (the Dodger announcers) were waxing eloquent about how Manny Ramirez has made himself into a much better defensive outfielder. It took me half an hour to clean up after my head exploded.

Meanwhile, Scott Erickson had another very good outing, 4 innings, 2 hits, and 1 run, a homer by Manny. Wakefield threw three scoreless innings for the Sox. Actually, all the pitching was pretty good. Dodgers won, 2-1.

I think that Manny could be a better defensive infielder if he, like, had WEEI on in little headphones when he stands out in the outfield. Every time Joe Castigliano's voice hits high C (i.e. when bat touches ball), Manny would know to pay attention right then.

Then again, I hear that Shawn Wooten, who is a non-roster catcher, played outfield a couple of days ago with #24 on his back. So, possibly, "Manny" has improved defensively by turning magically into Shawn Wooten.

Shawn Wooten has been brutal for years, one of those utility C/1B types (you know, of which there are so many successful ones), so only Manny could look improved by having a butcher like Wooten replace him in the field.
